Auto steer for Kubota tractors, any model, any year
Deep Sand Tech puts affordable FJDynamics auto steer on Kubotas of every age, from an M9540 to a new M7-174, steer ready or not. Kubota does not sell its own autosteer for most of these tractors, and that is fine. If it has a steering wheel and power steering, Deep Sand Tech has you covered! Every system comes with sub-inch RTK accuracy unlocked, a two-year warranty, fast phone and remote-login support from Oklahoma, and a 1-year buy back guarantee.

Electric motor kit on the column
AT2 Lite, AT2, AT2 Max or AT2 Ultra. A motor and a Kubota-specific spline and bracket bolt to the steering column and turn the wheel. This is what goes on every Kubota that was never offered with factory guidance, which is most of them: M40, M60, M100X, GX, M5, M6 and the MX utility tractors. Most farmers install it themselves in an afternoon.
AS2 on the factory CAN plug
Guidance-ready M7 tractors steer over CAN, and the M7-4 Deluxe is on FJD’s approved list. AS2 plugs into the round 9-pin CAN connector with no motor on the column. The factory autosteer switch is a separate Kubota option, so we check that it is there before we ship.
AH2 hydraulic kit
The M8 and some M7 units came with a factory hydraulic steering valve. AH2 runs that valve. On an M5 or M6 that wants hydraulic steering instead of a motor, we add our 30L valve and run the AH2 on it.
Kubota model families and what fits
What each family came with from the factory, and what we usually put on it. A family being listed means the option existed, not that every tractor has it, so we confirm on your unit before anything ships.
| Model family | From the factory | What we usually install |
|---|---|---|
| M40 and M60 series M5140, M6040, M7040, M8540, M9540, M6060, M7060, M8560, M9960 | No steering valve. Power steering only. | Electric motor kit, usually with the number 7 spline. |
| M100X and GX M100X to M135X, M100GX to M135GX | No steering valve. | Electric motor kit. |
| M5 M5-091, M5-092, M5-111, M5-112 | No steering valve. | Electric motor kit with the number 7 spline, or AH2 with our 30L valve added. |
| M6 M6-101 to M6-141, M6S | No steering valve. | Electric motor kit. Send a column photo, the M6 spline needs a look. |
| M7 Gen 1 and Gen 2 M7-131 to M7-172 | Base models have no valve. Guidance-ready units steer over CAN or carry a hydraulic valve. | AS2 on guidance-ready units, AH2 on a valve, motor kit with the number 36 spline on base models. |
| M7-4 Deluxe and Premium M7-134, M7-154, M7-174 | CAN steering on guidance-ready units. On FJD’s approved list. | AS2 plugs into the 9-pin CAN connector. Needs the factory autosteer switch. |
| M8 M8-181, M8-201 | Guidance-ready units have a factory hydraulic valve. | AH2 on the valve, motor kit otherwise. |
| MX and L utility tractors MX5200, MX5400, MX6000, L series | No steering valve. | Electric motor kit. Columns vary, send a photo and a tooth count. |

What goes on the tractor

Things we have learned on Kubota installs
- Most Kubotas built before about 2020 take the number 7 spline, an 18-tooth coarse spline that no other brand uses. M7 tractors take the number 36 spline, 36 teeth and a different diameter. They are not interchangeable and one cannot be cut down into the other.
- The number 7 spline did not fit one customer’s Kubota, so now we ship the Kubota spline options together instead of guessing. Count the teeth on your shaft and send a photo and we get it right the first time.
- On an M7-174 Premium sold as steer ready, the autosteer switch is a factory option that is bought separately. Check that the display shows a steering screen and that the switch is in the cab before you count on AS2.
- The M7 CAN connector is a round 9-pin carrying only CAN high and CAN low. The AS2 plugs into it. If you are not sure whether your M7 has a Danfoss PVED-CLS valve behind it, send us the serial.
- A 2024 M5-092 running the AH2 Max needs our 30L valve. The Kubota has no valve of its own to run.
- Steering-wheel nuts on Kubotas and other compact columns often sit tight against the motor. We machine the nut down a touch or use a smaller nut, snug it with a screwdriver and recheck it after a day.
- Model and year.
- A photo of the steering column from the seat and a tooth count on the steering shaft spline, so we send the right one.
- On an M7 or M8, a photo of the dash switches and whether the display has a steering screen.
- Any implement you want rate or section control on.
Common questions from Kubota owners
Will auto steer work on my M9540?
Yes. The electric motor kit bolts to the steering column and turns the wheel, so it works on any Kubota with a steering wheel and power steering. The M40 and M60 series take the number 7 spline and are regulars for us.
Kubota never offered autosteer on my tractor. Does that matter?
No. The motor kit does not need anything from the factory. Our display, receiver and motor do the steering. Most Kubotas we sell kits for were never offered with guidance.
Is my M7 steer ready?
If it has the factory autosteer switch and the display shows a steering screen, yes, and the AS2 plugs into the round 9-pin CAN connector. If the switch is not there, the tractor is a base model and runs the motor kit with the number 36 spline. Send us the serial and a photo of the dash.
Can I get hydraulic steering on an M5 or M6?
Yes. We add our 30L valve and run the AH2 on it. Most M5 and M6 owners run the motor kit instead because it installs in an afternoon with no hydraulic work.
Will it work on my compact L series?
If it has power steering and room on the column for the motor, yes. Send a photo from the seat and a tooth count on the shaft and we tell you which spline and bracket.
Do I need my own base station?
Usually not. Every kit ships with an RTK plan, and most customers run on the GEODNET network, which needs no base station of your own. Where coverage is thin we set you up with a base station or StarNav. We check coverage at your farm before we quote.
Who installs it and who do I call?
Most farmers install the motor kit themselves in an afternoon with our tech on the phone. After that you call or text Deep Sand Tech in Oklahoma, and we can log into the display remotely to help.
