AS2 on the factory CAN plug
AGCO put CAN steering on more tractors, earlier, than anyone else. Guidance-ready Massey 6400, 7400, 6600, 6700, 7600, 7700, 8400, 8600 and 8700 series and Fendt 300, 500, 700, 800, 900 and 1000 Vario are all on FJD’s approved list. AS2 plugs into the ISO port with no motor on the column. We confirm the serial before it ships.
Electric motor kit on the column
AT2 Lite, AT2, AT2 Max or AT2 Ultra. A motor and a model-specific bracket bolt to the steering column and turn the wheel. Fits any Massey, Fendt, Challenger, White or Hesston with a steering wheel. This is what goes on older Masseys, pre-2010 Fendts, base-model Challengers and AGCO DTs, White tractors, Gleaners and the Hesston swathers. Most farmers install it themselves in an afternoon.
AH2 hydraulic kit
Some AGCO machines carry a hydraulic steering valve from a previous guidance system, and some owners want a valve instead of a motor. AH2 runs the valve that is there or one we add. Challenger and Massey PVED valves are the CL type in our software. If CL does not take, we switch to CC. No harm done.
Massey Ferguson, Fendt, Challenger and AGCO model families and what fits
What each family came with from the factory, and what we usually put on it. A family being listed means the option existed, not that every tractor has it, so we confirm on your unit before anything ships.
| Model family | From the factory | What we usually install |
|---|---|---|
| Massey Ferguson 100, 200, 1100 and 2700 series 1135, 1155, 2705, 2745, 265, 285 | No steering valve. Power steering only. | Electric motor kit. A 2705 tilt column has no good spot for a wheel angle sensor, so the motor kit is the one. |
| Massey 5400, 6400 and 7400 5425 to 5480, 6465 to 6499, 7465 to 7499 | Base models have no valve. Guidance-ready 6400 and 7400 units steer over CAN and are on FJD’s list. | AS2 on guidance-ready units, motor kit on base models and the 5400s. |
| Massey 6600, 6700, 7600, 7700 and S models 6612 to 6616, 6712 to 6718S, 7614 to 7626, 7714 to 7726S | Guidance-ready units steer over CAN. On FJD’s approved list. | AS2 plugs into the ISO port. Motor kit on base models. |
| Massey 8400, 8600, 8700 and 8700S 8450 to 8480, 8650 to 8690, 8727 to 8740S | Guidance-ready units steer over CAN. On FJD’s approved list. | AS2 plugs in. Motor kit on base models. |
| Massey 5S, 6S, 7S, 8S and 9S 5S.105 to 9S.425 | CAN steering. 6S and 7S are on FJD’s list, the rest are the same family. | AS2. We confirm the newer S models by serial. |
| Fendt 700, 800 and 900 Vario, before 2010 712 to 718, 818, 820, 916 to 939 | No steering valve on most, or an early factory valve. | Electric motor kit. A 926 takes a custom-cut spline and we have had them made. |
| Fendt 300 to 1000 Vario, 2010 and newer 311 to 314, 512 to 516, 714 to 724, 822 to 828, 930 to 942, 1038 to 1050 | CAN steering on guidance-ready units. On FJD’s approved list. | AS2 plugs in. We run our own angle sensor on Fendts because the factory one is not linear on curves. |
| Challenger MT 400, 500 and 600 wheeled MT425B to MT685E | Base models have no valve. Guidance-ready units steer over CAN with a PVED CL valve. | AS2 on guidance-ready units, motor kit on base models. An MT635B takes the H bracket and the number 14 spline. |
| Challenger MT 700 and 800 tracks MT735B to MT775E, MT835B to MT875E | Guidance-ready units steer over CAN. B series needs a wheel angle sensor and a converter. | C, D and E series: AS2, scoped with you before it ships. B series: motor kit. |
| Challenger MT 900 articulated MT945B to MT975E | Base models have no valve. C and E series guidance-ready units steer over CAN. | Motor kit in articulated mode on base models. AS2 on guidance-ready C and E units. |
| AGCO DT and RT DT180A to DT275B, RT100A to RT180A | Base models have no valve. Guidance-ready units steer over CAN. | Motor kit on base models with the H bracket. AS2 on guidance-ready units. |
| Hesston and Massey swathers WR series, 8550, 9000 series | A TopDock connector means it is steer ready. FJD is still working on CAN support for these swathers. | Electric motor kit with the number 4 spline and the number 4 or 6 bracket. |
| White, Gleaner and other AGCO White 8410, Gleaner R65, Terragator | No steering valve. | Electric motor kit. The White 8410 takes the new number 4 bracket, the Terragator the heavy bracket, the Gleaner a tapered-shaft adapter. |

What goes on the tractor

Things we have learned on Massey installs
- Massey steer-ready power cables come wired to the European standard. We swap the pins on the three-prong plug to the American standard before it ships.
- The Massey steer-ready box has two CAN cables in it even though the parts list shows one. The bottom one is the production cable. The other is for swathers and combines and is not a production part.
- On a Massey or Challenger there are two ports under the console, EDT for diagnostics and ISO for steering. The cable goes in the ISO port. If you plug into EDT you get a transmission error that has nothing to do with the transmission.
- Challenger and Massey PVED valves are the CL type, not CC. CL and CC are valve types, not closed center. If CL does not work, switching to CC does no harm.
- On Fendts the factory angle sensor is not linear, so curves come out better on the FJD angle sensor. We ship it with the kit.
- A Fendt 926 from 2001 or 2002 is too old to be CAN steer. It takes a number 13 spline, which we have had custom made.
- A number 4 spline is only three inches long. On a Hesston 8550 we cut no more than two inches off, and prefer to build a stronger clamp instead.
- A 2020 Massey 2270 XD baler runs through ISOBUS plug and play once J1939 speed is turned on in our display.
- Model and year, and the serial number if you can read it.
- A photo of the steering column from the seat, so we match the bracket and spline.
- On a Massey, Fendt or Challenger, a photo of the ports under the right-hand console and whether the display has a steering screen.
- Any implement you want rate or section control on, and which display is already in the cab.
Common questions from Massey owners
My Massey is guidance-ready from the factory. Is it plug and play?
Yes. Guidance-ready Massey 6400 through 8700 series tractors steer over CAN and are on FJD’s approved list. The AS2 plugs into the ISO port under the console. We swap the power-cable pins to the American standard before it ships.
Will auto steer work on a Fendt?
Yes. Guidance-ready Fendt 300 through 1000 Vario tractors from 2010 on take the AS2 on the CAN plug. Older Fendts like a 926 run the motor kit with a custom spline.
What about my Challenger tracks?
MT700 and MT800 C, D and E series steer over CAN and take the AS2. These are involved installs and we scope them with you before anything ships. B series tracks run the motor kit.
Can it steer my Hesston swather?
Yes, with the motor kit, number 4 spline and the number 4 or 6 bracket. A TopDock connector means the swather is steer ready, but FJD is still working on CAN support for Massey swathers, so the motor kit is what we ship today.
Will it run my Massey baler or planter?
Steering, yes. Rate and section control depends on the implement. A 2270 XD baler runs plug and play through ISOBUS. Send us the controller model and we tell you.
Do I need my own base station?
Usually not. Every kit ships with an RTK plan, and most customers run on the GEODNET network, which needs no base station of your own. Where coverage is thin we set you up with a base station or StarNav. We check coverage at your farm before we quote.
Who installs it and who do I call?
Most farmers install the motor kit themselves in an afternoon with our tech on the phone. Steer-ready installs take longer and we walk you through them. After that you call or text Deep Sand Tech in Oklahoma, and we can log into the display remotely to help.
